3.0d Economy Re-map

Thanks Jason, I'll let you know, I was hoping to be able to pop in last week or early this week but it's not looking too promising at the moment, In addition I'm on standby as expecting a new baby anytime soon

As for the RPM, further checking shows it more like:

70mph at 2300 rpm
80mph at 2600 rpm
90mph at 3000 rpm

Although it's been difficult to get it accurate due to the volumes of traffic (and getting pulled over by the law when trying at 4am on the A19 @83mph  :wall: luckily let off with a slapped wrist and told to keep my speed down.....)

For interest this weeks return trip returned 31mpg London to Newcastle and 29.4mpg Newcastle to London, average is sitting at 29.1mpg since.

What speed are you doing to achieve those figures?  On a regular run from Devon to Surrey at an indicated 80(probably about 75-76 true) on cruise for most of the way, I'm getting around 34. My no.1 consumption is showing 30.1 over 21k miles. I was planning a visit to Jason for a power/economy map but on these figures, I'm now doubting whether to do it.

Note that the economy is no worse than it was before re-map, and I reckon still about 0.5 to 1mpg better overall but maybe I didn't drive the car enough before the remap?!? (less than 1500 miles I think).

Also note that the speeds above @rpm are GPS speeds, car speedo is reading 4-5 mph over.

Average speed over 300 miles this week was 76. I tend to sit around 90..... at 70-75 the consumption was over 36 mpg when reset, but I haven't stayed at that speed long enough for it to average out to be accurate.

I suppose the re-maps can be tailored to suit a particular driving style/speed with respect to economy, if that's a primary focus. I did opt for power/eco and I'm seriously impressed with the power side of things, and for no more fuel? well done Jason, I suppose I just hoped I could get 34-36mpg like I've read, but that's maybe a lot to do with my heavy foot.  :-[

When you pop can pop in I will make some files for you to test and Lend you
Our Flasher so you can upload the mod files

Have you done a tank to tank fill yet so we can see 100% what mpg you are getting from the car

To do this
Fill tank to the top
Reset trip counter
Take the car on your trip
Wait till you need to fill again
Note the miles and the amount of litres used to refill to the top

Tank to tank fill up results:  (I keep a spreadsheet of all fuel costs, keep receipts, and record mileage for business expense purposes. Luckily these can be used give actual mpg figures )

I'm surprised by the actual improvement now the maths in in front of me!!  just goes to show the OBC can be taken incorrectly as it depends when an how often you reset the thing!!

Pre-remap average over 3 fill ups = 26.59 mpg

Post-remap average over 5 fill ups = 29.92 mpg

OBC currently showing 29.4mpg average since remap.

Interesting results there B1G JV,

I'm sure Jason will be pleased to see the improvement and now you are not only getting the extra power, throttle response and economy. 

My OBC tends to under read by about 1 mpg.  Not complaining though as its nice to be getting better than expected mpg.

compare that with me filling up when the light comes up and most often not even bothering to reset the mpg on the obc..  )

All in all, roughly 10% improvement in fuel consumption? If so that looks pretty good, particularly at the speeds you're doing.
Just as a matter of interest, have you notified your insurance company, and if so, did they make any changes to your policy?

I've always told the insurance company. Just cannot see the point of not doing so due to the slight extra premium vs the risk (ok small but it's there) of having your insurance invalidated because of non disclosure.

Out of interest, roughly how much percentage wise did your premium increase by?

I haven't done it for a while but it was  usually about 10-15% IIRC. Depended on the company. I'm pretty sure I switched once when my then insurers quoted a ridiculous increase because they weren't mod-friendly. Can't remember which companies, sorry.

Given dealers can tell about a remap I wouldn't put it past insurers to have the same equipment to find out non-disclosure customers.
