First time X5 owner near Bristol

Post by scoomby » Sat Feb 02, 2013 9:11 pm

Hi All

I have just purchased a 1 year old X5 3.0d SE with Dynamic Pack for the misses today!  We have been looking around for an SUV for a couple of months to replace the BMW 530D M Sport.  We looked at cars like the Nissan Qashqai and the Mazda CX-5 but they didn't seem to grab us.  Last weekend we went to a BMW dealer near us and they had six X5's on there forecourt.  We organised a test drive and the rest is history.

Here are a couple of pictures taken at the dealer today:

It's an awesome car and I think it was worth the extra expenditure over the Qashqai, CX5, etc.  The colour and spec. was her choice so I am hoping it will keep the misses happy for many years to come lol.

It has a lot of extras like the media pack, voice, panorama sun roof, rear and side cameras (no excuse for parking dings or kerbing the alloys!) and powered tailgate.

Welcome to the forum..... :ok:

Very nice car......and don't expect the cameras to save the wheels!!  Definitely an improvement over your other potential candidates. :)

Congratulations and welcome

Was that at Cribbs by any chance?

Looks great and sounds like a great spec too.

Thanks for the comments.

I have added some interior shots and I have taken an additional outdoor shot on the drive next to my own car (which isn't a small car either!).  It was only this morning I realised how big the X5 really is 8)

A meet sounds really cool and I think the misses would be up for it too :)  I did a meet once before when I had a Scooby but I am getting a bit old to own one of those now lol.

Thanks.  I probably could get them in (just) if it wasn't for all the rubbish in there.  This reminds me in need to do a massive de-clutter!  I think the X5 might come in handy for that  :)

Sod the X5, tell us about the Jag

I could have been seriously tempted with a new XFR-S but I need at least one four wheel drive car in the stable

PS X5 does actually look ok too, in a Miami Vice type way :)
Currently :

2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)
2008 Lotus Exige S (a bit modified!)

2008 BMW X5 3.0sd MSport
2005 BMW 535d MSport

Welcome aboard Steve and congrats to your wife on the X5.

Both motors are lovely.

Definitely try for the Cosford meet in April.

No I didn't see you but recognised the old forecourt.

Love the Jag, not in a JC kind of way either ;)
