Hi Can you explain how to do this exactly thanks
how to rename imported CD's so they don't just show up as "Audio CD 1 - Track 1".  Figured out how to do the CD name update over the internet on my X5,

You need to import it to the hard drive and then when you scroll through the list of imported CD's, with it highlighted, hit the option button and there should be an update over Internet option you can choose which pulls it down from Gracenote.

Very reassuring to see a dealer pulling out the stops for a customer, like you say, excellent service. 

I really don't see why you should be asked to contribute to any wear and tear.  The dealer won't be paying for the new car.  Whether or not they sell the old car would be a discussion between BMW and dealership and let's be honest, even selling the old car won't see them lose too much.

Well done on the new car! Great to see you'll get what you ordered - sure it makes you feel a lot better now!

As for the wear and tear - play hard ball and tell it wasn't your fault they got the order wrong. You don't need to pay for a thing. You're the one being inconvenienced here. If they really push - ask for a courtesy car and hand this one back (if that'll work for you).

It is used, but why should sramsay get charged?  He didn't cause the issue.  If it was me I would fight for a straight swap.  If the dealership are insistent for some money, it would be only a couple of hundred quid at most and even then it would be given over reluctantly!

I had reason to get two cars replaced.  The first was a 2001 320i se convertible.  It had a drivetrain issue that BMW were unable to cure.  Car was six months old when it was swapped.  The wife took it in and got sweet talked out of £200 as she felt guilty.

The second was a 2007 335i MSport convertible.  This time it had a leaking roof that again couldn't be fixed.  Car was four months old and this time it was rejected for a full refund.  Walked away with a cheque for the full amount.

Why should I or anyone else that hasn't received the car they paid for not expect free wear and tear.  Compensation in other words.

Tbh they don't really have a leg to stand on so I think it's more that they realise on this case they have to just take the slight hit of producing a new one to paid spec.

When my mate bought a auc 3 month old 3 series  he found lots of faults with it (2 a4 pages worth!) .when he got his v5 its 1st owner was enterprise rent a car! He complained as he wanted a BMW owned car, so they let him drive it for a month  until they found a replacement which was newer and had a better spec and didn't charge him anything.

Update:

Just spoke to the dealer this morning.  He confirmed that the replacement car has now been ordered and should arrive early April, at that point it will be a zero cost swap out.  One added bonus is apparently they are updating the iDrive on the new builds to include the new version that was introduced on the 7 series.

Really impressed with the service throughout this process, nothing short of outstanding.

I believe the HUD is going 'full colour' too.
