Top Gear: New series starting tonight

Post by MJim » Sun Jan 27, 2013 6:35 pm

I'm sure you all know, but new series of TG starts tonight, 8pm BBC2 / BBC HD.  No idea what it'll be like, but may be worth watching - probably the usual mixture of ego trips and stupid stunts mixed with some good stuff.

Anything to do with the celeb ice dancing? I'll be going through the same with my wife and mother in law, but actually quite enjoy it (oops, did I just admit that?) plus it's sponsored by my winter tyre manufacturer.  :))

Partly - my son watchs that one with the boss. Then she has Mr Selfridge and AFTER all that I get to watch Ripper St. Like that one - love to see old London!

So TG gets the back seat - lately they have been poor, so no great loss, but still worth a watch. Sadly I like Wheeler Dealers too.  :-[

Stig in the Pagani Huayra should be interesting and also featuring the Continental but with JM at the wheel.  The usual arsing around with JC trying to build a tiny car, yawn.

Yep same old. Stig, and that actor from Homeland in the reasonably priced car.

Or far sooner on bbc i-player............

If not seen I wouldn't bother watching it unless :

(i) Insanely loyal to the show.
(ii) Curious as to how bad this episode was.

I had it recording on sky+ so was fortunately able to ffwd some of the content.

Pagani Huayra : Pretty much an irrelevant article for all but those who have ordered one.

News....Not funny or informative. No mention of significant developments since last series.

Bentley on Rally Stage : A couple of OMG slo-mo sequences but just another Conti most won't drive.

Interview & Star in Car : Some actor I have never seen before who did lap on ice/slush.

Clarksons own made P45 car : Drawn out attempt at fun article. Much in vein as his prior effort in the 3 wheel car he drove inside the BBC television centre.........but more boring.

I expect a motoring programme to be informative &/or entertaining......Failure here on both counts.

Have followed JC since he wrote for Jesse Crosse in Performance car in the 80's. This lazy effort was not his or TG's finest moment................Some might feel the boredom of all involved was clearly evident.
