Conversion to electric tailgate opening

Hello everybody.

Does anybody know if it is possible to upgrade an E70 from manual to electric tailgate opening and lift. I guess the parts are available but is the vehicle prewired when this option is NOT taken at build time. if not I guess the expense would be prohibitive.

There's no 'official' kit, but it should be possible.  You'll need a new control module to run it, coding of the system into the car (it links to the iDrive), the drives themselves and the various additional switches/buttons etc.  It won't be cheap.  No idea about the wiring as BMW used to do a lot of that, but it's been cut back in newer models.

Anything is possible but you'll probably find the cost quite prohibitive for this sort of retrofit.
