Zündfehler is an ignition fault.......
Zündzeitpunkt is a timing error.....
Zündspulen is a coil problem....
Zündkerzen is sparkplug....
Elektodenabstand is plug gap....
Zündkabel is HT lead.....
Unterbrechen is injection interrupted....
Zündkreis is one ignition circuit....
Spannungsversorgung is the power supply....
Kurzschlub......is partial short circuit....
Plus Oder Masse.....is no short circuits to ground...
Meßswiderstand.....is check the connection between

Could be coil pack is breaking down?  Sounds like it's suggesting either a spark issue, timing issue, injection or combustion fault on No2?
Possibly a short between the primary and secondary ignition circuit (Coil?).  Says to check for that too.

I'm getting the translations from here as I don't speaks the lingo.

....was only trying to help......you spend your money.

Seriously though, VW had a lot of trouble a few years back with coil packs and there was a recall for it, so it's not an unknown fault.  The (poor) translation seems to point towards coil/plug on No2.

Coil pack...here on your favourite auction site...

Just had a look at the screen shot again in the email next door sent.

says Zündfehler is an ignition fault....... also for 1 and 4 but on number 2 gives all the wording above, so would i be best buying 3 coil packs. Or could 1 and 4 be trying to compensate for number 2 error

cheers

I would have thought it unlikely that three would go together, so it might be a wiring fault.

At least that should be easy to track along the physical circuits to see if there's been any chafing or cutting, especially given it's three cylinders adjacent to one another.  That at least should be a no-cost check as all you need to do is take the engine cover off and have a look at the spiders web of wires hidden below it.  Could just be dirty connectors?

Beyond that my knowledge of these things stops, but I think the ignition wiring comes out of the ECU to each coil pack so there should be a 12V supply possibky a separate 'ground' and some sort of 'trigger' lead that tells the pack when to fire - so three wires per pack.

Other things to check are the plugs themselves for damage/wear/gap.  Is the MAF OK?  Compression check is a good idea.

Cheers guys for the info
And rich you the man, its just cost me £90 but all it was was pack 2.
He reset all codes and it came back with number 2, he then tuck pack to off and swopped with pack 3, rest and rerun diagnostics and came back with number 3.  Replaced the faulty coil reset and rerun again and no faults and runs like it should, all at a barging £90.
Cheers guys.

Nice easy fix......glad it's back to normal.

Why the 'spiel' from the system couldn't just say - "No2 Coil knackered, replace" instead of all the rest I dunno.

I just put number 2 for speed instead of righting most the crap, it don't just say no 2 said it came back with many faults. But when he swopped with another pack, it said all the crap about that cylinder.

Hope his thread helps some body, failing that there's always X5Sport.
