I like the look of this as a head unit.

Hi all

Hualingan gen 5 unit £500
Ext lead required ( £45 )  ( I have factory nav hence the need for the lead )
DVB -T Mpeg 4 £178
DAB bolt on £169
Rear view camera £61:60 ( on sale )

Head unit fitted free but £100 to fit the extra lead and the bolt ons above

So just over £1000 for the lot

I can take pics of the fit and supply any feedback you guys may want ??

I have the Lpg tank getting removed Thursday, gonna stick a new Bosch S5 battery in and get the ICE fitted Friday before the tank goes back in Saturday morning :-)

You're paying £45 extra because you already have a SatNav in the car. Are they using the SatNav drive or transmitter/receiver thingy? Could you not just use the head unit sat nav stuff and ripe out the Bmw sat nav equipment and sell on?

Hi all!  I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks as I've just swapped my 330ci for a 2002 4.6is.  All good so far, but looking at replacement head units.  It has DSP, so is that a problem if I were to go for a Gen 5 Hualingan or a MIMI unit?

Also, what make is the unit in the Ebay link at the top of this page?

The gen 5 can now cope with cars that have DSP  :)

Is the Gen5 model number HL-8786GB?  Anyone know of a UK supplier for them?

Cheers.  I've already emailed them earlier so will see what they say.  Any feedback on yours would be appreciated of course.

I've just spoken to Car Vision and the Hualigan Gen 5 still does not work on an E53 with DSP. There's an issue with the lead to the DSP amp. They have it working on an E46 DSP but we will have to wait for a fix for the X5.

There's a guy that runs www.andrive.co.uk on BMW5 forum saying he's just released the newest model for e39/e53...

Nope,

And if its supposed to be the new model id be disappointed... It looks dated imo, and there is no phone button? and thats a top end price as well.

Hi guys, yes spent the day in Car vision ( great service and really know their stuff so worth the drive there for the install ) 5th Gen Hualingan fitted, external Digi Freeview TV in motion fitted, external DAB radio fitted ) wanted both to perfect so went for external with their own aerials although still plumbed into the head unit. And incapsulated rear view camera which fits in beside the rear number plate lights ( not replace one of them so not lost lights to number plate ) again links to head unit when reverse selected.  To be honest by the time this lot was fitted it was late and still had the 3 hour drive home in the dark with snow falling so have not had time to play with anything yet, apart from the sat nav which was excellent. Will have a good play over the next few days but early indications from John at Car vision ( has 5th gen in his E90 ) is that it has a quicker processor than 4th gen, and the interface is much nicer, quicker and more user friendly. I can't comment against the 4th Gen ( never had one ) but will try to give some feedback in the coming days.
