so im on 22s but the tyres have massive treads, went up this (very steep 1 in 3 hill) flew up no loss of traction and this x5 is definatly better grip than my y reg one, turned around at the top and desided to try the hill decent control, and it came down the hill perfect no slipping at all and thats good as its a ditch at one side and a wall at the other on single road! :)

Cool......no hills like that round here to try it on, or enough snow.

Im glad you think so too! :)

I popped out last night when the snow was laying thick and fast and also tried out the DSC button.  Overall I am pleased with how well the e53 handles in the snow.  I do not have winter tyres fitted but the current tyres do have 5mm on the fronts & 6mm on the rears.  The hill in the photo doesn't look overly steep but certainly no way would any of the residents normal cars been able to handle it!  I must admit it did struggle a little on the way up though and the traction control didn't seem too great.  :(

I bet the people who live in the houses at the bottom are glad too :) I doubt that wall would have stopped a 2t X5!

I found the DSC turned off while going up steep hills ok, no chance if its on just cuts to much power and would just stop.
Only tried hill decent going down a little decline, would sooner use a manual and engine braking though.

honestly i thaught that but try it, no wheel locks up at all it just goes down perfectly at 5mph (so no good on normal road) but this is a steep sinlge track road, i dont think i could have walked down without goin arse over tit!

Well unfortunately the snow as almost gone, and the X as just developed a major problem.
The engine light as come on giving limited power, sounds like its missing on low revs above 2.5k sounds ok.
Next door is plugging it in in the morning, hopefully not going to cost to much.
