Post by mogsyman » Fri Jan 18, 2013 5:14 pm

May as well have tried to drive a dustbin today rather than an E70 on 20's with no winter tyres.

It was that bad (shockingly bad) it made me appreciate just how good the shitty Warrior I drive on a daily basis which on its normal tyres and wheels is sure footed and will clime a mountain covered in 8 inches or more of snow or mud.

I suspect I'll have to invest in winter wheels and tyres at some stage for the X

Suggestions on a post card please.

Did you try it with 'Snow Mode' enabled?

You press the 'DSC' button (short press only) and a caption 'Traction' appears in the central driver's display along with a yellow caution light.  You now have the DTC system operating.  Quick press again to turn it off again once on 'safer' ground.

A long press turns it all (DSC & DTC) off completely (and turns a bigger warning on) which might not be a wise choice in this weather.....albeit fun in the middle of a large snow covered car park with nothing to run into....

I've been tearing round with my winter 19s today in normal driving mode. Great fun and very sure footed

Mine was much better than I expected after reading all the horror stories about 20" and summer tyres. No drama at all and passed other stuck cars on hills easily. However I have mucho tyre tread depth on all 4 and that will make a huge difference.

What does that actually do?

On a slight slope the car had no traction, would pressing that button made a difference?

The slope was driving out of the dealership this afternoon btw ;)

First winter with the 19" winters on the E70 (didn't have them last year).

Totally shocked about how 'normal' they make the car. Last year (on 20" summers) the traction control light was flashing continuously. This year- hardly on at all.
