Is this really the new X5 ?

I always feel the diagrams don't show off the cars fully. I'll save judgement until I've see a couple in the flesh. BMW do seem to be able to produce cars that aren't loved at first but soon take a hold on the emotions.

Have to disagree there. How about the current M3 ? sales didn't go well & it received a luke warm reception at launch. I thought it was so poor I opted for a 335d Sport, as it looked the same as the M3 & the performance was astounding. I had two E46 M3's & still think the E46 is a better car,
Then the 5 Series..... the new 5 Series Sprt & Se are OK, but that's it, nothing special & look as good but no better than the outgoing model apart from tech details like
If that X5 is anything like the picture I'll be going RRS, but I'll reserve judgement until official pics are released. I know the RRS is a bit 'Cheshire' but I don't want an overgrown X1 / X3 or Audi Q lookalike

That is what makes us humans different, personality. The M3 is only one model in a successful series. I totally agree that the 335d is more than enough car. I had the 335i convertible (only because there was no 335d with the drop top)
The F10 however in my opinion is a far better looking car than the previous 5 series. The RRS is a very good looking car, but quality issues as well as running costs and the fact they are all over the place mean its a car I won't buy.

Have you been in one? My cars away for service and some minor warranty work, so running around in new 3 series. What a let down compared to F10. Spec a 3 to match standard kit on the 5 and there's very little in it price wise, yet the two cars are poles apart.

Agreed, running costs of the RRS , reliability issues as well as dodgy image are a concern. It's a shame & I'm disappointed with those X5 pics as they're usually pretty close to the real thing. Maybe time to try the new breed of Audi's next time.... the A4 Avants look nice. Tbh the E70 is the best car I've owned & I'm nowhere near bored with it after 12 months of driving.

The F10 is nice to drive & the Self Park thing is great.... I had one for an hour or so but it just feels so typically BMW. Apart from the E70 X5 BMW aren't really getting me excited & haven't done for quite some time. I like my cars & the raw edge of BMW;s has gone. My C Class C350 Cdi was in a different league to the new BMW 3 series in terms of ride, quality, Command... everything really. Maybe I'll eat my words when the new model X5 arrives but at present I'm feeling Audi.

I nearly opted for an X6 over the 5..... I do like them & not many around.

Yes, the F10. Now as you don't like the looks of the F10, I don't see how I could or indeed would look to change your mind, but I have been very impressed with the level of equipment, quality and sense of occasion I got with what was the base model, a 520d se. Getting it to a new 3 series has highlighted the golf between the two, yet when speccing like for like, the price difference is minimal.

Re: Is this really the new X5 ?
I've done about 2000 miles in them, 1000 of which was in the new M5
Xmas 2011.
Rest split across 520d and 530d
Best was probably the 520d but they all left my cold
