IPhone 5 using 8 to 30 pin adapter

Post by Mike80 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 8:48 pm

Could anyone tell me whether a 8 to 30 pin lightning adapter will work with my bmw Y cable I currently use for my 3GS to play music through my idrive?

I'm planning an iPhone 5 and don't want any issues in my 2009 car.

Thanks in advance

Michael.

IPhone 5 using 8 to 30 pin adapter

Should do unless you decide to put your iPhone 5 in any sort of case as the connector fits tight. Also buy converter off eBay for 4 quid as opposed to the 25 quid apple ripoff one.  I'm using one of the convertors to charge and sync my iPhone 5 through my PC and works seamlessly

Some of the cheap convertors bought elsewhere work and some only seem to charge.  We have been using an apple one on the zeppelin without any problems

Yes it works fine, make sure if you have a case on it to get the cable version not the stumpy adapter thing.

Yes it works great thanks, not sure if its my imagination but the idrive seams a lot faster loading albums moving from my old 3GS.

Do you transfer music from your iphone to the hard drive (I've always loaded direct from CDs which takes flippin ages - 10/20mins per CD)?  Or are you referring to loading what's available to play from the iPhone?

I only play the music that's stored on my iPhone, the 8 to 30 pin converter has sorted this out.
