Option Prices Media & DAB Radio

Probably old story but seen this morning that BMW are offering a DAB radio retrofit package for £299. Just find this amusing as when I spec'd an X3 the DAB option is £325, and is £315 for an X5. In another BMW twist, if you get the Professional Media option in an X3 this is £2515, and DOESN'T include the DAB, whereas in the X5 the Media package is cheaper at £2365 and also INCLUDES the DAB, almost £500 cheaper.

Work that out.  ???

xcartronics do a £150 dab upgrade that works with the steering wheel controls and shows on the screen...

Hi and  Toneus.

Just the usual marketing policy used by BMW and no-doubt others to squeeze what they can from the customer. It is usual to see higher prices on the more expensive cars and then the prices drop as the model price drops.  I have looked on the mini site before and the prices on like for like items could be found much cheaper.  That said, your example goes against the norm and maybe down to the newness of the X3 and therefore BMW looking extra at this stage.  May also be a sign that the new X5 will have said option prices increased.

Maybe the SatNav actually works as it should in the X3?!  But I doubt it ...  At least I've now had a full refund on the cost of the media pack owing to the woeful SatNav ...

Wouldn't be surprised if the standard radio has DAB in there anyway and the 'upgrade' just involves BMW switching it on.
