Guide selling price for my X5

Post by X-5 3.0d » Sun Jan 06, 2013 10:09 pm

Hi all,

Been looking at a new car to replace the beloved x5, been offered some stupid prices in part ex just trying to get. Feel for what I should be looking at, advice much appreciated.

Specification of car

2004 3.0 diesel
88000 miles
Fsh
Full sport spec
Navigation system
DVD stacker
DVD screen
iPod connection
Good tyres
Mot til June 13
Leather upholstery black
Black
No panoramic roof though!

As I said just a rough guide would be appreciated been looking at autotrader and pistonheads and there is a wide price guide

Cheers

Simon

Price always depends on the seller and how much they think of their car. Value is always on what the buyer is prepared to purchase at.

Dealers will only ever offer you book price or below. They have to make their margins.

Depending on service history your sounds a top motor and im sure you wont have too much selling it at the higher end of the prices you are finding...

Let me guess - you are getting a 6 - 7k trade value?

I managed to get in the end 10k on trade in of my 2005 80k 3.0d in Feb this year.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback, pvr yes that what I'm getting offered don't see the point in trading it in for that much when they are clearly going to knock it out for at least 2 - 3 grand more I know that's what they are in it for but just doesn't make sense! There are some poor examples out there especially on autotrader with no extras and they are going for 8-9 grand, I will keep haggling away, pvr if you don't mind me asking how long did it take to sell yours?

Cheers

I played two dealers off against each other. Chandlers was more hungry for the deal so they offered 1500 more for the X5 and 1500 bigger discount on the new one, so I was 3k up on the deal versus Vines.

Consider late Feb for the deal too - dealer will want the sales more. Or August of course.
