have the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow RFT on my X5 also and they work great.

I have 285 tyres on my X6 for the winter.....fitted to style 258 alloys. I use Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow RFT tires. These are one of the OEM standard winter wheel/tyre sets for the X6. Not had any (proper) deep snow but used them for the last two winter seasons with no problems, and they actually give a better ride than the summer set.
Summer wheels are 20" with Dunlop Sportmaxx SP RFTs.

Re: High Performance Winter Tire

I ordered a set of Wintrac Xtremes yesterday in 255/50/19!
I am very excited to try them out. They will be replacing:
Continental Contact 4X4 SSR Runflats
The Continental run flats are the only tire I have tried on my X so I am very very excited to try out the Vredesteins. Although I absolutely love my 5.0, I have a hunch that the current tires are kinda mediocre. Surprisingly enough I can't really find any reviews of my current tire to see how others have liked them. I also just don't like all season tires as I see them as "glass half empty" instead of "glass half full" tires. I mean, they aren't really excellent at anything. I am a big believer that in order to wring every bit of excellence out of my auto purchase I need to buyt the best tire. It has always seemd silly to me to pay (for example) $50,000 for a BMW and then have it handle (perhaps) only 85% as well as it could by saving $500 on tires. In my example I am losing 15%b of the ultimate handling of my $50,000 vehicle by saving $500. Makes no sense.
Anyway, I think the Vreds will be a great experiment!

Sarends, do you really push your car that hard that you feel you are missing out on the last 15% of its ability?
