shopping around for front brake discs where and what prices???? e53 3.0d

Call Main Dealer, GSF, (various makes), Euro Car Parts (various makes), Motormec.co.uk (honest and trustworthy reputation albeit not always cheapest) , C3BMW,( ask what they are sending), Local motor factors ( often a lottery), bmminiparts.com (call re brake orders), http://www.bremboshop.co.uk, (claimed to be corrosion treated).

Beware that 4.6is and 4.8is discs are bigger & wrong size.

Mixed opinion as to what make OE discs are. Some reckon ATE, others Textar, others in USA reckon they are Brembo.

Avoid cheapo unbranded items on ebay & always ask supplier(especially C3BMW), the exact make being supplied unless one make supplier like Brembo.

Avoid temptation for what may seem v.f.m. so called performance sets offering say mintex pads yet unknown discs.

Item number 400162131483 seems tempting on ebay claiming to be Brembo "Racing" discs note the listing says discs in the plural but later refers to one disc.

I would want to find out more re these ebay items as the Bremboshop.co.uk site charge £109.99 per disc. I would ebay message seller, politely explain you have heard of fake discs & ask them if they offer money back guarantee if not genuine. N.B. that there isn't a reference to "Racing" on the discs supplied on the brembo.co.uk site clicky here Brembo.co.uk site also offer TUV certificate & provide a link to the literature supplied with thr discs- maybe ask tjhem to comment o the ebay items as they offer to price watch.

No good asking me re unknown or little known brands as can't advise re these.

There's a big market & mark up in cheap discs yet none will declare they are selling rubbish I have heard stories of cheap discs from asia so it's fair to say you cant rulle out the possibility of fake branded discs from some ( thgough this hasnt ever been proved as an issue as yet & to my knowledge) !

Basically do your homework, (I've done half this for you),bget online & get on the phone

Hopefully you will avoid buying rubbish or getting ripped off. For non ebay transactions consider paying by credit card in case of later dispute.

i too spotted the brembo discs then disc ad on ebay , notice euro have gone a little expensive of late ,as use these for bit for my vw also.will chase up gsf etc tomorrow and get some prices, hope nobody thought was being lazy asking for prices just thought would be interesting to see if any other sellers other than the usual suspects were about offering good deals to any members

No probs - I didnt know you were aware of the usual tried sources but in any case the sources above & any subseqent info may come in use for others later posing same or similar question

Back to the Brembos on ebay I think it would be fair to say that the price is per disc- I say that as the other brembos linkes in my post are over £100 each.
