MK1 caddy

Post by westside » Mon Dec 17, 2012 11:13 am

A friend of mine brought a mk1 caddy a month ago and over the past few weekends I have been doing some work on it.

It came with 13" alloys and a stright body.

First thing was to sort out the misfiring and it refusal to start on cold mornings :-(.  So we changed the following

HT Leads
Dizzy Cap
Rotary Arm
Coil
Plugs
K and N panel filter

After removing the old cap etc you could see why it refused to start, there was a slight crack in it and the Rotoary arm had seen better days, the leads were not much better, whith this sorted the car now ran as it should and started first time, even in damp conditions.

I tehn fitted some new headlamps and some H4 xenon kit to smarten up the front end as it had some crap after market lights with angel eyes in, I also replaced the headlamp switch as this was also kanckered along with some air horns as the horn didnt work :-)

The next part was wheels, we decided to go for 7*15 Turbo wheels all round, the tyre size they came with is 195/50/15 but there will go down to 175 in width so the front can go down more.

Fitted coilovers to the front with new top mounts, the axel was already flipped but wasnt low enough so I fitted some lowering blocks, also removed the front splitter as it had seen better days.  The front wichbones will also be replaced just didnt have time this weekend to get them in.

Next year it willbe stripped down and having a colour change done at SCR :-).  Currently looking at some exhaust options it currently has a side exit.

For now the old boy is enjoying his new ride.  I'll get some pics up of his transporter as he has spent a pretty penny on that.

Driving this car is a hoot, but with no PAS its not easy doing 3 point turns.

I'll get some pics up as it gets stripped and ready for its new colour :-)
