Recall Details

Concern : DRIVE MAY FAIL
Description : The power steering pump drive belt tensioner pulley securing bolt may fail which will lead to the loss of power steering assistance and the necessity for the driver to supply additional input to steering the vehicle.

Remedial Action : Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to replace the steering pump drive belt tensioner pulley securing bolt with a more robust version.

Is it a safe assumption that this only applies to E70? My E53 build date was after the start date mentioned in the bulletin.

Are you able to cross reference with the chaise number?  I assume the last E53s  and first E70s used the same 3.0d engine.

Does it not include the X5 35d?  Pretty sure my vin number falls into that range

I've rechecked the VOSA Recalls website and the text is exactly as showing on the website.  Could be a typo on their behalf, or an error from BMW.  Probably worth checking with your Dealer?

I would go by the vin number. No reason why the 35d is any different on the X6 than it is on the X5.

pretty sure, my e70 3.0D is included in the range

has anyone managed to do this recall without resistance from dealers?

I checked with my dealer and they say mine has been done according to their records. Worth a check though.
