4.6is rear alloys, are they all the same?
4.6is rear alloys, are they all the same?
Sorry if this is a question with an obvious answer, I am looking at the adverts to look at purchasing the 4.6iS, and unless its my imagination some of the rear alloys look wider than others, are there different width rear alloys for the 4.6iS that I should be aware of?
I am talking about the proper BMW alloys not any aftermarket ones.

Re: 4.6is rear alloys, are they all the same?
As a quick answer, yes the sizes are staggered (wider rears) I think they are 9.5" front and 10.5" rear - but I'm sure someone with the full details will post soon.
Re: 4.6is rear alloys, are they all the same?
I think he means whether one X5 4.6 has different rear wheels to another one - not the staggered setup to the front ...

Link to list of x5 rims if you click here
Scroll down to see details on the original Style 87 alloys. 2 different sizes, (275 fronts 315 rears)
Differing tyres, suspension height adjustments, wheel spacers or viewing angles can change the look to some extent.

Its images like this, the rear alloy just does not look right to me, too far 'in' to the bodywork

That doesn't look right.
Unless photographed from a very awkward angle I can only speculate that X5 may be fitted with non genuine alloys, (based on the style 87), be fitted with wrong tyres, or perhaps have a front rim fitted to the offside rear................Something is definitely wrong in that image though as my 19's fill the rear arches better.

I think you'll struggle to just buy a couple of rears. It would make more sense to buy a set then sell them off one at a time - there'll be plenty of people looking to replaced a damaged one, you might even make a bit of money on them.
