I have the code, but can not find any information on what to check. What should I be looking at?

E53, 4.4liter
I cleared the code, test drove and the display didn't say there was a problem anymore

At that age it's possible that it's a spurious message being caused by your battery approaching end of life (assuming you still have the original one?). UK models throw all kinds of weird messages that scare owners and all are fixed by replacing the battery.

Other than that it'll need one of the V8 owners on here to offer advice.

Could be a multitude of things from, as Richard has mentioned, a duff battery to air suspension pump or the accumulator.
