Radio/CD Player problems

Post by fatladandy » Sun Dec 09, 2012 8:25 pm

I have been having the occassional issue with the radio/cd player stopping working in my 2002 x5. This morning I removed fuses 7, 72,73 as I have previously to reset. However today when I tried to turn the stereo on the screen lit up as it would when using the stereo but with no display or sound.

Does anyone have any ideas

cheers
Andy

Nothing springs to mind, but it might be time for the full 'battery reset' approach.  You need to completely disconnect the battery for at least 20 mins.  With some of the electrical 'gremlins' that occur, BMW usually try this as a way of getting all the modules back in synch.

That was going to be my next thing to try but it will have to wait until next weekend as i need to lift the lpg tank out of the wheel well to access the battery.

I've had the reverse of that (ie, sound, but no display, all worked as normal but no display and no action on the buttons of the nav unit). turned out to be a blown fuse thanks to me playing around with something.

you may have blown one of the fuses.. maybe to the receiver/amp, but the headunit fuse maybe ok so it maybe lighting up.
