The wheel hoist
The wheel hoist
Got a hoist a while back from my parents for my birthday, and as it is about time I swap the X5 wheels over with winter tyres, I thought I would finally make the construction to mount it.
Worked very well though.

He's got special tyres that inflate to four times there normal size to allow them to float on top of the snow. >:D
Pvr, I take it you transfer the wheel from the platform onto some shelving that's at the same height for storage?

Pvr hasnt mentioned that when I bought his old E53 winter set up he dropped one of the winter 17's straight onto my head & as I was standing on steps............ fortunately I have a hard head as well as a thick skin.

Re: The wheel hoist
Yes, from shelf to trolley, then from trolley to ground using the hoist.
Summer wheels will then go from ground to trolley and I can then push them on the shelf.
Thank goodness there was no damage AW8, would have hated to have given you damaged wheels )

Only possible when AW8 is there to bounce the wheel on though to prevent damage

And I thought I got odd presents.......
Did you tell them it was for wheels, or was there an ulterior motive ( other than braining AW8 ).
Having dropped a 20" wheel and had it crack a sturdy shed floor, I can well imagine the headache AW8 might have suffered..... :-\

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: The wheel hoist
Yes, they knew it was for that and wanted to prevent back damage by lifting the wheels.
Aw8 exaggerated, the wheel only flipped against his head whilst holding it . Did sound hollow though and he now is known as wmb

Re: The wheel hoist
...........I assume "wmb" is a reference to the reverse text imprint left on my forehead.
Pvr is correct in that it was flipped as opposed to dropped rom great height, however it was flipping heavy.

Dropped by accident? Or was there possibly some foul play going on? ::)

So, did you need a hoist to hoist that hoist into place?
