good idea actually this video cam stuff... but hte next thing is the car would be broken into, to get hold of the cam unit!

do you guys leave it on teh windscreen or remove it everytime the car is parked somewhere?

I do like the size of Blackvue - very discreet.

Also seen cheap ebay options from china, but they are a punt  :'(  Once bought a cheap gps from there for a few quid (£50 / 5 years ago), worked ok for 2 months then software kept freezing, got to be a real PIA - Ended up flung in the back of a drawer. 

Not keen on fitting a cheap system, to then have probs, though accept that as a trial, without fully wiring up to vehicleis cheapie is an option.

The one thing I would like is the GPS capabilty with the option to switch GPS / speed off & just have camera as proof ---- just in case you have been a bit over speed limit ( as insurers would prob use footage against you).

I had a look on ebay -dashboard recorders- there seem to be plenty ranging from £30 - £160.
I am definately getting one , there are hard wire, 12v ign activated supply if yon hunt with a meter where  radio void is (remove radio) Have used this tapping for my aftermarket tyre pressure measuring and speed camera device.

Includes rearview camera to mount on rear window, for the back enders you may experience (ooeer missus)

Also includes 4gb SD card and windscreen mount (if you don't like the 3m tape idea)

Very discreet from the front and is left in permanently.



Power side and the Micro SD card goes in this side.



There is a light ring that glows to show power is going to the unit and it is also a button to manually start parking mode if set up for it. The light is only on with ignition and can be turned off if required.

Did you install yourself? Where is the power feed coming from.

how about the rear and the sides - more cameras?

at this rate would cars start coming up with black boxes as oem, which record av and other info sources..

These aren't HD devices though, probably due to recording two images simultaneously.

They don't work with the Mac either....not that anyone uses such a 'niche device' of course....... :no:

Fitted it myself, routed the wire from the power socket, under the dash, behind the trim up the A pillar and under the roof lining to the dome light down the screen to the camera.
