Kerbed Wheel :-(

Post by B5tew » Wed Nov 28, 2012 7:15 pm

What are the chances of kerbing your lovely 20" wheel on the way to put your winter wheels on.
And the kerb was so low if I had my winter wheels on it would not have kerbed it.  :cry1:

What a pig.

At least it is off the car now so you can get it fixed easier ...

I booked myself in the Van part of the Eurotunnel last week as I did not fancy the crawling through the narrow bits there either.

I ended up down one particularly narrow road in Central and found I had no choice but to go on..... :'(

It is a bit of a nightmare on that front here - the top view cameras are essential to preserve the wheels for all that kerbside parking. It's the blo*dy width restrictors that I really hate - that horrible grinding if you' re a centimetre out ... :(

Bummer!  I seem to remember there were tyres out there with raised edges to give a little protection.  Must not have taken off as a commercial success.

They're are. The Diamaris were. The Toyos are less so but rubber protecting a 2+ tonne car from concrete....

Totally agree Sanj.  The tyres would only have a chance against the slightest rub.

Ive had the car nearly two years and not a mark on any of the alloys - the Missus dosn't get to drive it - and the worst part is I never got round to changing the wheels in the end.
What makes me shiver is the noise it makes when it is grinding into the concrete - puts my hair on end - if I had any !

Agreed. When it happened to me I heard it just as it started to scrape and I thought there's just no turning back, so it becomes even worse moving forward knowing/hearing the damage it's doing.... :'(

Sorry to hear news and you have done well fpr 2 years but I think we have had that feeling at some point.

It does give you the opportunity to give refurb then after the winter though or change colour, I would recommend if doing refurb to have the backs painted black shows less dirt.b  :)

I lasted 6 months before some mallet head in a van strait lined me at a roundabout, front of the car left the ground and if it wasn't for run flat tyres I'd have written off 2 hardly worn Pirellis.
