Left & Right Air Blowers

Post by northernlight » Sun Nov 25, 2012 9:55 am

Hi guys,

Was out for a drive yesterday and noticed something a bit odd with the ventilation. Had the missus with me and she wanted the air blowers to be warmer on her than I did. So she set her side to about 22 and I had mine at 19. However on the middle two air blowers the a ir temperature seemed to be reversed? Ie, mine was blowing warmer than hers? Any idea what that's all about?

Seems to be the same whether the air con is on or not.

What position is the little thumb wheel between the vents set to?  I found I had to keep mine in it's neutral position or it did whatever it's own setting was at as it is separate from the climate control (for some odd reason).

it could be that 'her' side was found to be warmer so it was blowing a bit of cold, whereas your side was found to be too cold so blowing a bit of warm  air? :P just thinking.. was it a one off or is it all the time?

i've never understood the need for that dial in the centre air vent in bmws.. why would you want to manually control the temp of one vent when the car is set to auto climate control.. worse - how can the car be automatically controlling the climate effectively when the user is allowed to override one of the vents?

Which is why they took it off the next generation cars.  I never understood why it was needed either..... ???

Had a good play around with it today and it does indeed seem that the heat control knob thing seems to affect it. If I try and make it neutral then the climate control seems to work properly for each side. If I go to the 2 red dot setting then it seems to go a bit haywire with all the 4 dash vents seeming to do their own things.

Oh well, not a biggie I'm sure I can live with it!

Cheers for the advice guys.
