When ever I'm flying helicopters i have my phone on.  Do a little surfing but very limited, but often text as talking and listening on the phone are impossible due to noise levels.  Helicopters are more complicated than planes on the whole but flight instrumentation, flight controls, auto pilot, instrument landing systems are all very similar and never had an issue.  That said I've never investigated the reasons why airlines believe phones are bad on take off and landing so couldn't comment on their reasoning, but it does seem a little petty to me.

I have signed up to their Oneworld App but don't believe this to be heir executive card.  I'll look into this option, cheers for he heads up.

I believe the whole phones and devices thing on take off and landing is more to do with having peoples attention incase of an emergency.  Similarly the turning lights off for take off and landing is to do with your eyes adjusting at night incase of an evacuation and the reason you have to open the window blinds is so that emergency services can see in

It seems that I am signed up to their executive club, but as its free, I'm on the basic service at present and advance by collecting points.  As BA don't fly from Belfast I don't ever see me collecting the required points to reach the dizzy heights of Silver (free seat bookings and lounge entry) let alone Gold!

Impressed - I flew BA to Florida this summer with wife and two boys, returning o/s school hols, £2,800.  Probably down to it being a last minute thing.

Word of warning with the USA. Make sure you have v good health insurance. My wife had a scare, trip in ambulance, night in hospital, load of unnecessary tests, they missed the one thing they should have done and she checked herself out the next day. The bill? $27,000.  I'm not kidding. And there are worse stories. Looks like our insurance is covering it, but a real eye opener. The hospital was pretty shabby and competence questionable. Despite its shortcomings, makes you realise how lucky we are to have the NHS.

Flying with British Airways.  I know the price is very good.  Jumped all over it even before confirming I could get the time off!

I always insist on insurance cover, but given your experience, I'll be looking to see if I can find cover that doesn't require payment from me first.

What a flight. I've flown business on Emirates previously, however budget meant cattle on this trip and I wasn't disappointed!

Food was good, staff great and the aircraft......wow!

Loads of leg room, great ICE, wifi cost me £9 for connection pretty much all of the flight.

Coming back on a 777 which is a bit of a shame

In my shorts with stumpy white legs on show, 31 degrees, very sunny and warm, so fcuk you lot

I think i read something on the myths of flying once      What i dont get is the life vest when your flying over land and whats the point of the sodding whistle!!.    Always remember the Eddie Izzard sketch saying he doesnt want top up on the vest he wants stay up 

I tend to fly mostly BA partly for convenience as they tend to go where i want to and they have premium economy which i try and fly.  I do have the BA amex card which is good too as you get reward vouchers for flights if you spend enough.  which is really good if you pick up the miles.  2 of us flew to chicago club and returned 1st last year and this year flew to Beijing club and returned 1st from shanghai......all on airmiles......just paid for the taxes.  Paid £1600 taxes this year but worked out the cost of the tickets would have been £17000.

Have got a silver BA card which i will loose at the end of this year as my end of year overseas jobs have not happened.  Is a great shame too as they bonuses you get with it are good for building up the miles

oh and a colleague flew to singapore last year in premium economy on Qantas A380 and returned PE on BA.  He raved about the A380 and then couldnt believe how bad the BA777 was.

Often quite good to look at codeshare flights for airlines too.

The BA Exec is nice, but was not impressed that after having had Gold for 20 years, one year I was a few flights short and they demote you to silver without any loyalty.
