found it
Really missed the old site - glad to see you got this one up and running - well done
Real pity that most of the info on the old site is gone.
X Info.......
I bought an 02 X5 3.0D last November, Pearl beige with cream interior - great car and has just past the 132k miles mark.
Mods completed with the help of the last site - angle eye conversion and removal of 'orange bits', aftermarket sat nav/DVD player/Ipod controller/Hands free phone kit, Rear flip down DVD, Auxy heater mod.
Had the car away to france earlier this year - no problems at all and a great vehicle for family holidays - also past another MOT though i did have to change the handbrake pre MOT.
Really glad to see the site up and running, a real wealth of information.

Welcome back
Good bunch on here & with useful info growing all the time.
Always worth folk asking for advice/info - even if much old info gone, many still have knowledge & info in their heads or cant point folk in right direction.

Re: found it
just catching up with all the posts - really good. Remember when i first found 'the last site' - i spent days reading through old posts..... doing the same now, strangely enough some of the horror stories still fill me with fear - yet i have just past 12k miles since i bought my X taking it upto 132k and apart from replacing the Hedgehog (which did myself following the 'how to') and replacing the handbrake for the MOT nothing has broken/gone wrong/fallen off or died...... It really does show how much 'luck' or more importantly 'bad luck' is involved in each car.
Regarding the drop down DVD - must look up the post - very happy with ours but do feel that individual head rest units would have been a better option - in hindsight.

Was time to go Paul, some big bills coming up and now doing more miles as my son has just started school. We also plan to go over to france much more next year and diesel is much cheaper. Loved the 'X' very much but have to say the e61 is a fine car and in some ways a more suitable family car which is what it is used for how are things over in NI, are they still made about putting alloys on everything
