Real MPG figures for my E70 40d
I was a bit early for an appointment today so thought I'd see what mpg I could do by putting the active cruise control on at 60mph and staying in the left lane. Not bad result as you can see below - and it was pretty relaxing too! Heavy foot on the way back pegged it to below 21mpg

Nice figure sramsay, but to achieve that on every drive would be like watching paint dry. Although that said you would have one smug smile getting 740 miles out of a tank. ::)

Very impressed! Didn't think a 40d was capable of that ...

If your going to drive at 54 mph in the left hand lane in your X 5 on any motorway ,i would have both eyes on my rear view mirrors not the fuel computer readout as those Polish lorry drivers set their cruise control at 65 mph ,and then nod off !!!! See what the X 5 does at 75 mph its safer and you wont get booked by the Police at that speed either !

I tried that the other day by not driving in the BMW lane. Was getting rather frustrated as I could never get from lane 1 in lane 2 to overtake a truck as there would always be some Ford Ka with a girl on the mobile phone in the middle lane not going anywhere and just hang in my rear quarters >:(
