Does anyone know if it's possible for me to stop the steering wheel from retracting towards the dashboard when I take the key out of the slot? Either that or get it to 'park' itself in a different position.
Thanks

Steering wheel retraction
Re: Steering wheel retraction
Unless there's a reprogramming option hidden in the 'Dealer side' of the system, I thought it was a single position for parking. I've not (yet) seen a reference to any alternate options. Certainly mine only ever went to one factory set position when the key was removed. The X6 is the same.

Are you a getaway driver worried about losing a few seconds as the fuzz turn up?

Re: Steering wheel retraction
Very much doubt it. The wheel retracts to allow the most amount of room for exiting and entering the vehicle. As had as I try, I can't think of any reason why parking to a different position would be of advantage, maybe you could let us know what you want to archive?

I've got long legs and find it easier to exit with steering wheel away from the dash.

Ok I can see where you are coming from. I wonder if you approached your local dealer, if they could look into your request?

Re: Steering wheel retraction
I had a play today to see if I could find a way to do it.
I discovered that you can stop the retraction mid-flow if you give the steering wheel stalk a nudge just after you take the key out of the dashboard.
That'll do me. I will ask the dealer when it's next in.
