Picked up the X6 4.0

Post by westside » Sun Nov 04, 2012 2:29 pm

well got the train down to Bristol yesterday to pick up the new x6 and so far so good.  (I'll get some pics up as I'm still detailing it)

How does it compare to the 4.8 e70, well I wasnt to sure as I had never driven the x6

So far I am impressed (I do miss the sound of the v8) but the pull on the D is amazing (not sure what it would be like aganist the 4.8) but if anything it seems to pull more!

I've fitted the black BMW badges to the wheels, bonnet boot lid and steering wheel, and after closer inspection I think I am going to get the bonnet and wings painted, there are a few stone chips nothing major, but I think after fitting the X6m front bumper and the rest of the kit the stone chips will just bug me.

I seem to be able to throw the x6 around a  bit more then the x5 not sure why but all in the drive is much the same as the X5 expect I hate the RFT  >:(

Having 8 gears is brill doing 80mph at 2k revs is the nuts, and as mentioned the pull is great (handy when Audi's or Honda's s2000 try to under take you  >:D)

This week I plan to fit the spacers get the wheels painted black and fit the big brakes, if I get time i'll also change the springs (if they turn up)

Not sure what to do rempa wise shall I get a map or get a tuning box so that I dont loose the map if it goes in and BMW flash my ecu, any thoughts.

I'll post pics up as soon as I finish my mad cleaning session!

Very impressive level of care - and the results really show!  Must admit my car's lucky if it gets a wash!

Hi Westside,

The X looks fab.  You must have a passion to do all that detailing.  I like my cars looking good but just don't enjoy spending the time required.  Made all the more annoying for me as I live in the country side and with in only a few miles you wouldn't know the car had been washed.  >:(

Looking forward to seeing all the mods.

Don

Very nice......and 125 more 'torques' than a 4. 8 V8, it just runs out of revs earlier. :P
