Jacking Pads

Post by MarkyX6 » Tue Oct 30, 2012 5:47 pm

Has anyone used the rubber jacking pads rather than the solid aluminium.

I like the idea of restricting any possible damage, but am not sure if this is actually relevant, bearing in mind that they fit into a slot. One particular seller promotes the rubber version as limiting damage to the plastic socket.

Thanks

Mark

I bought a 3 ton trolley jack from Costco (cost around £70) and use it with a rubber ice hockey puck (cost around £5 from ebay). I also have some aluminium jacking pads from US ( about £20 off ebay) that fit into the slots - neat but not really necessary.
I was being charged £20 a corner for bi-annual winter/summer change so worth the investment.

I have the US made solid ally type and have not noticed any damage caused to any of ours.  You could always glue a thin rubber strip on top, but the ends have rubber grommets to help them sit better in the slots.

'Damage caused' sounds like a marketing ploy......the Dealers probably use steel ones fitted to their ramps!! >:D
