Aux Heater innop?????

Hi all I know I'm new to this site but always use it for information and has been a great help,
right my webasto aux heater seems dead???
I have a 55 plate X5 3.0D sport, my friend has programmed the obc to now read aux vent/heat and when vent is selected in direct mode works a treat but with aux heat selected in direct mode nothing happens at all, I've put a needle as suggested on the forums to pin 1 direct to the positive jump point with still nothing happening not even a sound???
Me and my friend who also owns an X5 with lots of oe mods he's done himself are scratching our heads with this, I want to fit the remote module telestart with the winter coming but only if the heater actually works???
I've read that this could be the glow plug but not sure where this is???
