Tow Bar
Re: Tow Bar
I have the Witter on mine. Direct from PF Jones the towbar + dedicated 13 pin electrics are £270.40 then fit yourself using the 'How-To' on this site. It was enough of a saving to make me do it.

Re: Tow Bar
Thanks all.
Yes, I think I will go for either the witter or westfalia. May as well just get the westfalia though, as it wont work out that much more, and I have an e46 towbar to sell to make up the difference anyway.
I will most certainly be fitting myself! The e46 was easy.
I see though you need to lower the exhaust and take the heat shields off, is that necessary?

Re: Tow Bar
I think there are some bolts you need to get at and the exhausts/shields cover them, so the answer is yes you do. :'(
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Tow Bar
I recently fitted a witter detachable swan-neck as mentioned above from PF Jones. It was fairly straight forward using the photo's and instructions from this very site. Only thing I found differant was the main upright tubes for connecting the bumber back on were slightly bigger diameter and so had to go look for a sleeve to insert in to take up the loose around the bolts.
I still have a problem with the electrics though,... warning lights say 'check trailer lights', this is because I have never been able to get the rear nearside tail light to work , even after a replacement 'grey box' which plugs into the wiring loom next to the battery. Had it all tested and still not working, must be a fault pre-grey box.
No problems with the towing using the Witter though,
Jonny

Re: Tow Bar
Cool, I've just ordered the Witter bar with dedicated electrics.
Now to fit it.
I've just removed the towbar off my e46, and I fitted that one a few months back, so this will be the third time this year I'm fitting/removing a towbar - a bit tired of the process now! :noexpression:
At least I should be able to do it quickly!
