Internet domain purchase or lease?

I'm wondering, can one buy an internet domain name from Nominet? Or the UK legislation allows only lease? If so, how is it done?
If anyone knows this info pls share

No, you can't buy one, only for a number of years lease.

And it is probably done through one of the licensed comps to do this i suppose....same legislation in France....
Can u recommend a company that does that? Or have any idea regarding fees?

I bought this domain from http://www.enomcentral.com/

I just pay for 2 years at a time.

The fee depends on the name, I paid about £20 a year for this.

Costs range from a few pounds a year to more depending on if they're .com, .co.uk etc.

I have loads of names that I just keep registered just in case they become worth something - as did happen with one domain name I used to own!
