4.8IS mpg (didn't turn up on search)

Post by Dan Alex » Sat Oct 13, 2012 9:55 pm

As the title says, what would be a real 4.8is consumption, LONDON MPG that is :))

My 3.0i, in Bucharest (pretty much same traffic) manages a pathetic 12 mpg, without any mechanical/electronic problems .

So, i wonder, what's the mpg on a 4.8....

About the same.  Some Owners have managed to get it below 10 though........and my 3.0d used to give around 25-27, although I did see worse in heavy traffic.....I don't remember ever getting it down to the 'teens' but certainly low twenties when stuck on motorways if I needed to keep the engine running :'(

Hmm, i was convinced that the 3.0d wouldn't be so far off from the 12 mpg, i would have placed it somewhere around 18-20 city traffic,  but 25-27 ? That's very good actually. Unless that is a highway figure, which i believe it is, and that makes sense though.

Sorry for the inaccuracy but working in liters/100km yields a consump of 22L/100km for 3.0i and the diesel would be at around 16-17L/100km roughly the above MPG figures i think
10nx

I did used to switch the engine off a lot ........ Or avoided taking the car into London whenever possible as the offices were in the 'Congestion Charge' zone.  Motorway figures were low thirties - according to the computer - with the 3,000 mile average (I used to use one of the two mpg computers for a longer 'view' of the mpg) at around 29 overall.

The X6 is better, but with less than 9k on the clock after almost two years is still barely run in.  The X5 mpg improved noticeably after about 10,000 miles but why I don't know, it just did.

Forgot to say mine has been mapped by Jason, which helps by 1 to 2 Mpg.

But even before the map 26 to 27 was easy enough, as long as you arnt in town and dont got over 70.

Rich...

Cannondale is quite right - I have had 32MPG on a long run........in town depending on conditions it varies from about 17-22MPG.  I don't switch the engine off except when I leave the car  :))

You go from 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds every time you pull away :)

That's decent compared to the understated 3.0i :)
