Adjusting handsfree phone sound quality?

Post by sasolshares » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:13 pm

The on-board computer & DSP settings provides plenty of scope to adjust radio sound quality but none of this seems to apply to the bluetooth handsfree phone sound. I have a Sony Ericson mobile which pairs to the cars' bluetooth without a problem but sound quality is pathetic, too much bass, unclear, etc. Same issue with a Samsung handset. Does anyone know whether the sound can be adjusted for phone mode?

I have a similar problem. Iphone 3GS.
For some reason the volume when taking an incoming call on the BT handsfree is now quite low.
I haven't changed anything recently. 2 weeks ago it was fine, parked X up for 10 days whilst away at work and on return noticed volume was quite low. Anyone any ideas how to increase the volume on the BT handsfree kit.

Ken, while on a call with the Bluetooth in your car, turn the left knob on the Sat Nav clockwise, then on your iPhone turn the speaker volume up by pressing the button on the side of the phone... you must be making a call to do this. That is how I got my volume back up to how it should be.

Rob, not sure if you can change the sound settings for the calls. How have you got your DSP set up for normal music / radio etc? Do you have the bass up quite high? I'm sure it all goes through the same Amp thats all...

I'd say Turks is right, it's the phone volume on mine that changes the volume when it comes through. Vital it's done while you're on a call though.

Sometimes the steering volume helps too - seems to retain that for next time. Not too sure, it's not used so often...

I agree its best to adjust the volume whilst on a call but I may try accessing the other sound settings whilst on a call if its possible. You would think it all goes through the same amp but maybe the telephony uses its own, separate amp. I say this because my normal radio settings are spot on and very clear, I don't like too much bass. However the phonecall sound is completely different, has too much bass, not clear at all regardless of who's calling and more importantly, doesn't use all the speakers. Recently changed to a Samsung handset and phonecall sound just seems to come from the drivers side door woofer alone. Maybe its intentional to only use one speaker to reduce feedback to the mic, but a midrange speaker would have been better!

They are only midrange in the doors though aren't they? Sub's in the boot if you have the DSP or have upgraded like Kena...
