Introducing.....

Post by Nxnumber1 » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:23 pm

Hi Guys! (and Gals!)

Just thought id say hi as i will be spending a lot of time on here over the next few years! Recently bought a 54 Facelift X5, ant must say what a car, even for its age. However, soooo much potential for a little more, although i'm gonna need to read a lot of threads as i'm not too hot when it comes to electricals!

Already spoke to Sanj regarding headunit upgrade, what a top bloke. Cant do enough for you!

Looking into iPod upgrade and a few little other things but nothing concrete as yet. (and also because i dont know where to start with gadgets!) Maybe digital TV or DVD player too?

Does anyone know anything regarding the midbasses in front doors? THey are so poor quality wise. I hear BMW make it very awkward to put in normal speakers other than factory? Baverian Soundwerks seem to supply good replacement with play and play functionality however maybe a little expensive?

Anyway, sorry for going on!

Steve.

Cough cough...shameless plug:

For the iPod upgrade you will need an intravee and KCA, I have mine up for sale at £200, just waiting for another member to accept or decline.
Also have an iPhone 4 snap in adapter converted to plug into an intravee setup so you can charge and play.

A second set of alloys with winter tyres is good to have at hand, mine are for sale at £650 for 17" alloys with wintrac extreme tyres which have 7mm of tread.

Also have a set of halfords roof bars too.

No need to loose OBC function, Ive got the Dynavin headunit and I moved the MID unit to the glovebox to keep the reset function and the binnacle display (OBC ) control from the stork. you only have to extend 5 small wires, easy even if you cant do electrics, or get someone to fit it for you.

Welcome aboard Steve.

Look forward to the pics.

You're only 15 minutes from me as I'm in Wolves. More than happy to hook up and you can have a look at my 4.8 for some ideas and discussion. Can help you decide and fit and mods you're thinking of.

I'm in the process of replacing all my speakers and have gone with a double din Pioneer unit.

Tbh, there isn't much I have left stock on mine and you can always fit aftermarket speakers in the stock locations... ;)
