My Current and future modifications...

Here is another idea; how hard would it be to add a turbo to 4.6? Would that be possible?

......and the current '50i' type is a 4.4 V8 twin-turbo anyway.  All you need is the plumbing, inter-coolers, added engine cooling and ECU changes.

Have a look on RealOEM at the E70 50i and see what added bits you can 'adapt'  ;)

Might be quite expensive trying to adapt the oem stuff.

You could look to someone like Simpson Motorsport for nice kit.

My next project is turboing the e30, gets a tidy 300+bhp in a car that weights little more than a moped! There's a 50 page guide about doing it to e30s, the turbo manifolds are also readily avaiable for e30s

Finally installed the 75W HİDs and result seems to be satisfying. İt looks OEM with 4300K temp. Image
Next will be the fog light conversion to 75W hids

Looks spot on. Wonder if there is anyway of increasing the current to the one xenons to brighten them as I find the oe ones just so poor compared to all my previous BMWs.

I asume that the whole idea behind having the 75W ballast is having more current being directed to the bulbs. The bulbs which came with this kit did not look any different than any other oe or non oe xenons i've seen. But the ballast is a lot larger than oe one. I still have to find a good spot for them to hide as it would not fit where oe one came out, under the headlight assembly. So far all i noticed which makes me scratch my head is that when the X5 is in the garage and having the headlights on auto and trying to start the car , the lights turn on just fine as it is darker when the ignition on but when i turn the key to start the car it turns off the xenons and i have to switch the light switch off and turn it back on after a few seconds to get the xenons to fire it up. Any ideas why it would do it?

Forgot you were replacing your oe xenons with this kit. Where did you source it as I'd be interested too.

I could just replace the oe ballasts with the 75w ones.

As for your query, I think it is due to the increased current draw. Before actually I turning the engine over the ballasts have the full draw from the battery that is required. But when you start the engine, the battery power is diverted to firing the engine.

Cheers buddy. Will be very interested to know how bright they are actually in use too compared to the oe setup.

Hope my possible explanation of the issue you've been getting with start up.
