finally got approval from WD for a new gearbox. hopefully i will be getting my X5 back on friday with a new gearbox. and also i should be getting the bullbar delivered on the same day. it is in chrome but i am planning on getting it wrapped with carbon fiber to make it match the body colour of the X5.
more details to follow

11 pieces, OEM. 3 on the dash, 4 on the doors, 3 on the centre console (main piece, ashtray, rear cup holder piece) and the gear stick.

I did just the silver door handles too.

Others have done the steering wheel centre piece too.

Oh and I'm basing this on facelift cars, so pre facelift will have the steering wheel piece too.

Selling mine if interested... anyone (dark walnut wood wrapped in CF 3M Di-Noc film, missing rear cup holder and gear stick only, but I can include the film to cover them and keep the wrap exactly the same), here's a pic or two.

i am pulling the trigger to continue with the mods. i just had the front windows tinted as well and the place who did the tinting also did the wrapping for the bull bar will also do the installation for the bullbar. he also offered to do the carbon fiber on interior pieces as well. he is pretty reasonable on the prices so i'll let him finish what i started. hopefully sometime bext week i'll have it all done.. fingers crossed!!

My Current and future modifications...

Post by kkodal78 » Tue Sep 18, 2012 6:39 pm

Since i am in the area of southampton i thought i would stop by Rudi's and get the pixels fixed as well. He is working on it right now and also putting LED bulbs for cluster lighting as well. He has a 4.6 as well and he has done his cluster with led's which looks good. Hopefully after the pixel repair which is the last thing that got on my nerves , i should be troublefree. No more warnings or dead pixels.

Damn that does look really good. Always been disappointed with the dull hue from the standard cluster lighting. Which bulbs did he use to replace?

My Current and future modifications...

All i know is they are LED and dimmable. He showed me his cluster before i said yes which looked great. He also changed the whole front end of the 4.6 with a facelift 4.8 which looks good too. Apparently rudi is a member of this forum as well but he said he has not been on it for while. I asked him to chyme in and maybe show up for the meet. I hope that was ok that i asked him yo come to the meet. Hopefully i'll make it there to inspire some of our members for modifications.. No offense sanj  ;)

Deffo no problem wih inviting him along to the meet. I'm hoping to make it down but still not 100%.

As for the cluster LEDs, will find out what the OE bulbs in the cluster are as it will just be replacements me thinks.

I was in southampton and stopped by to get it done at his place. All cost was £150 with pixel repairs and the leds. I was going to post the cluster to him but after finding about the trip i made an appt with him. By the way the silver rings are part of my cluster from factory. That is in the 4.6is package ;)
