remapping

Post by shadrack » Sat Sep 22, 2012 8:25 pm

as many will no im bored of the x5, but im now thinking it may be daft to sell a 4x4 just before winter as im the winter 2 years ago had i not had the x5 i would have been stuck at home for 6 weeks as that how long the 325 we had at the time wouldnt even get off the drive!!

so i was thinking what would i get from a remap (power wise) tbh i arnt that interested in extre mpg if i can keep the same mpg and get more power than the remaps that gain power and economy, i would trade for more power!  how much diffent would it be? could i see 300bhp from the x5 or would that be a dream? :)

No doubt Jason will be along to confirm what it possible.  I think the area you have to watch isn't so much the engine but the gearbox as the TC can only take so much without modification - the 6hp26 is rated at 600nm.

Given how 'fragile' these boxes can be, that might be the 'limiting' factor on any of your dreams....... :). Nothing wrong with the dream though.. 8). 270-280bhp maybe at a guess?  :D

Even the current 306bhp/8-sp is limited to around 700nm (8hp70 variant) unless being replaced with the 1,000nm rated Roll-Royce variant.

A standard remap from BW will take you from 218bhp to approx 258bhp.  Give Jason a pm and he will be sure to confirm figures.

Hmmm 258bhp seems a little disapointing I was thinking 280 minimum

That is the performance/Eco tune, but if you want just more power, Jason can do that too.  Most of us like a bit more ooommmph, and economy, but as you are not bothered with the latter, just go for the big grin stuff.  PM Jason or give him a ring and mention the forum ;)

Even that increase will be very noticeable and put the grin back on your face.

Jason did mine and I had it on the rollers 2 yrs ago with 272PS and 545NM .
It also improved MPG from 25mpg to 29mpg on the wife's daily school run ,
and I've seen 39mpg on a steady 140kmh cruise-control run , whereas before
max I saw was 32mpg .

It also annoys Scoobies  :tease:

We have had the 231 bhp 3.0d engine to over 300 bhp in the e90 330d which is on YouTube just look for bwchiptune

Can you post up your dyno graph if you still have it Chris
Thanks

If you google bwchiptune review in google there should be a few dyno graphs of the power we have had from the diesel engines as they are fitted to other BMW cars which are the same as the x5's
