which SOT lead

Post by x5jay » Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:03 pm

Does anyone know which SOT lead works with the Navigation screen.

Im installing a Motorola TK30 hands free kit but cant find the correct SOT lead to connect it to the stereo.
The one that the internet says is the right one is NOT. SOT-060, SOT-076 or SOT-976 dont work they all have the wrong connections.

HELP please..........

My car is a 55reg E53 X5 with Nav. The plugs on the back of the stereo are white and blue if that helps.

Thanks

Forgive my ignorance, but what is an 'SOT' lead?

You're gonna kick yourself for this because you know it...!

Definition:

The SOT series leads are designed to install aftermarket hands free kits such as Parrot with ISO connections. They are provided in two parts, one lead attaching to the Car Wiring loom converting this to ISO the same as Car Radio harness adaptors, this then plugs into the Car Kit. The second lead is then ISO from the Car Kit and plugs back into the Car Radio. They are designed for using any ISO accessory and are not required where the Car already has ISO Connections.

Just a fancy name.... ::)

Nah.......I order the car with (most of) the right bits in the first place......  Apparently it's 'Sound on Top'.  I've heard of DIN / ISO type, but SOT was a new one on me.  Every day is a schoolday eh... ::)

I had enough trouble remembering all the different types of aerial connectors, never mind all the modern wiring looms too.... :'(

Any ideas guys ?
the car does have bluetooth and works with my iphone but it is a crap connection when i use it. i had the Motorola TK30 in my old car and the sound quality and connection were great plus it also connects to my ipod so can play music.

i know people dont like after market stuff but my X is a bit of a work horse, regular visits to building sites and muddy fields so all i need is SatNav, Phone and music.

Surley it cant be this hard to find  :(
