I was medically banned from driving for three months after the op.  I think your other half is unfortunately right.  It'll either be the pain, or the painkillers (not that you'll care if ft's the latter), but you are very unlikely to be allowed to drive.

Unless of course you know someone with a Transit you can put a bed in......or.....or....a Caravan... )
