Insurance renewal process - as it should be

Just had a long chat with Admiral after I got my renewal papers for the 5 cars. Impressive result I must say having a helpful person on the other side of the phone.

In the end, she took £50 off for each car for "loyalty discount", changed the mileage on all the cars a bit down so in the end, the premium for 5 cars was £1500, of which £650 was for the Polo for my daughter and son.

Very happy with that.

Sounds like a result.  Interesting comment in this week's Auto Express about 500 uninsured cars a day are being seized (30% then crushed) but the average fine (under current sentencing guidelines) is only £198, so it's cheaper to get done than pay the insurance!!  Makes no sense at all!  Fine based on income & ability to pay - and it's the cost of insurance that causes people not to bother in most cases.  Stuck in a spiral methinks.

Manchester, Birmingham & Bradford are now the highest uninsured areas in the UK according the latest figures.

Those areas can pay more then (which I think they do anyway  ))

i have a strange set up, i have 3 cars on the road at the minute x5 =£850, e36 = £500, and the e30 325 cab is £111 (on classic) i really dont understand insurance logic, i did wonder if i would be better of with a multicar as im with admiral anyway but i was bothered when it came to renual i wouldnt be able to shop around as there are very few companies offering mulicar policies ::)

On renewal, you could just get three quotes independently though?

Think more and more companies are doing it as well.

supose, but would you get the 3 lots of ncb, the x5 has 8years ncb, 7 on the e36, the e30 is a fresh policy though so would not matter

PVR I assume you also ran an online Admiral quote through their own site or Confused. Generally it is hugely below the renewal figure , my renewal papers came in this year for the X5 at £720, quick quote via confused and a premium still with Admiral of £260. Phoned them up and they matched the online quote easily.

I didn't to be honest, but the prices were lower than last year and for £220 I got the M which I thought was so good.
