WHERE TO GET PARTS FROM AT THE BEST PRICES.

Post by shy7g » Fri Aug 17, 2012 1:41 pm

Hi, the agony continues >:(
my X5 (E53 4.6 2002) isn't running that well and on further examination I've found that the "Crankcase Vent Hoses" are totally U/S.
The parts I'm trying to sauce are as follows
Vent hose 11 15 7 566 837 – x1 off
Vent hose 11 15 7 566 838 – x1 off
Hose clamp 11 63 1 716 970 – x2 off
Hose clamp 64 21 8 367 179 – x1 off
Hose clamp 07 12 9 952 109 – x1 off
I know I can pass GO and go straight to jail (BMW MAIN DEALERS)  :)) :))
but can anyone suggest alternative suppliers to get the parts at more affordable prices?
thanks

Try German & Swedish with the OE part numbers as they may well carry them in stock (or be able to order in).

Don't know if euro car parts carry them but there good and cheap, normally 10-30% discount codes around, but also always get a quote from bmw admittingly 75% off parts are more but many are cheaper and some are so close to aftermarket price it would be daft not to use oem parts

Crankcase-Ventilation/Oil Separator - VENT HOSES (WHERE TO GET BEST PRICES)

Post by shy7g » Fri Aug 17, 2012 7:35 pm

The part I require are as listed below.
Image

Item# Description Part number
4 Vent hose 11 15 7 556 837
5 Vent hose 11 15 7 556 838
6 Hose clamp 11 63 1 716 970
7 Hose clamp 64 21 8 367 179
8 Hose clamp 07 12 9 952 109

German & Swedish with the OE part numbers - Unable to help.
Euro car parts - sent request but the only part in this area they sell is the oil cap, so time will tell.
Anyone else had any trouble with these pipes?

P.I.T.A. job to do due to limited V8 working room/access. I spent 20-30 mins looking at mine & decided I would probably end up with cut knuckles or lost clips etc.

If you are a member of bmwland you can get the parts from Costwold BMW with a little discount.

You could get a couple of reputable independents to quote best price for whole job.

I would only want parts like this as original & from BMW as not worth hassle of a premature failure.

Sounds a bit lazy but tbh I would want to do without the hassle.

Ask to have/see old parts unless able to see all parts have been replaced.

I would prefer a trusted indy to do this rather than leaving it with a main dealer where the technician may be racing to beat or meet his quoted/allocated book labour time.

Oh and worth checking the rocker gaskets as the failure of hoses won't be helping matters there either.

Got this done on mine soon after purchase - Got rid of burning oil smell and leaking oil and the engine management light. All round good job  :)

All parts direct from my local BMW dealer - £57.55 all in, my friendly mechanic fitted for £10 - he was going to do for free but was a lot more hassle than he expected!

Not sure if you will get these as reproduction parts - My dealer had never ordered them before!
