Bc button

Post by Karl.hughes » Sat Aug 11, 2012 5:02 pm

Hi all just bought a 4.8is x5 in Le mans blue.

After only two days of ownership I have a couple of problems. First one is my bc button has stopped working basically does nothing worked ok on way home from purchase, is it something I have done in setting up. Second problem parking sensors, put the vehicle into reverse she bleeps for a couple of seconds then the light flashes.
I have a warranty with the x5 will it cover these issues or should I contact the dealer, only issue is he is 200 miles away.
Can anyone help

welcome aboard! .. and don't be disheartened by minor glitches its a fantastic car :)

bc button? not sure what that is..

parking sensor - i'm afraid the system is trying to tell you there's a fault. it could be one of the sensors malfunctioning - there's 4 in the front and 4 in the rear. or worst case (unlikely) the pdc unit itself.

if you just bought the car and if its under warranty get them to fix it.

these are not wear and tare items so should be covered by whatever warranty they provide.

Thanks.

Bc button is the one on the end of the indicator stalk that controls the trip computer.

I will check with my warranty company Monday .

You are right it's a stunning car, effortless and powerful and gets a lot of attention.

yes do that.

failing which:

re the parking sensor - if that doesn't work there are ppl here who might be able to help diagnose which sensor is givin you trouble, with a 'scanner 1.4.0' and even get it replaced maybe.. all depends on where you are located. if you're close to north-west london let me know.

so what exactly is wrong with the bc button? what is displayed on the display right now?

If you want to find out if one of your sensors are down activate the PDC by pressing the button the put your ear to each one and listen for a clicking noise if there is no clicking then you have found the faulty one

Regards the bc button I have a blank dash display as I left it on the drive home, got into it next day and now it does nothing.

I tried the ignition 1 select reverse listen for clicking but I can't hear anything on any of the sensors.

Location wise I'm based in Hereford, I was thinking of getting the scanner software but my computer is windows 7 not compatable

If you hold in the BC button it activates the remote function, on your OBC you can then tick box the different computer functions you want the BC button to cycle brought when you press it, if none are highlighted - nothing happens when you press it.

Does everything else work with the indicator stalk where the BC button is located?

Yes all other functions works fine, if I go to the screen under computer is showing trip distance, fuel economy 1, fuel economy 2, time and a couple of other settings.

It's booked in for Friday for both jobs, the Indy thinks both jobs should be covered under warranty.
He will give a check over as well.

As the above said hold down the bc button for a few seconds, the computer screen displays all the options for the button select the ones you want remove the ones you don't.

Worth adding the display will come up on the 16:9 screen and the options with ticks are what will show up on the OBD, those without won't.

done! cant believe i didn't know that all this time!

now mrs j will know how to check the range when fuel is low  :P

coming back to Karl's issue- can't imagine this button not working unless nothing is ticked to display, or the button itself is not making contact.
