Portable SatNav
Re: Portable SatNav
.........As you know she starts Uni next month & has recently had to pay out hundreds to sort car issues including fitment of rear park sensors............Yes I know you said about rear view issues ::)
I guess her idea of cheap is as cheap as possible for something that wont leave her in troiuble when driving alone. She had been talking about getting a used sat nav on ebay though I had no idea re all the issues and pitfalls until I read this thread.
I have edited my last post with specific q's.
Haven't a clue really only ever nav owned me is OEM Mk3 Nav in the X5 :-[
Free updates, postccde input, speed camera alerts & GPS display of speed limits would be sensible too I guess...........Speed limits seem to change every week &/or vary significantly on certain stretches of main roads: A24 a prime example.
Maybe road angel is the answer - but updates extortionate.

No idea how many apps there are for ip4s so any pointers appreciated.
Currrently she mainly drives to summer job & with daily commute to Uni pending next month. It's just for occasional use.

I hated the TomTom due to the inaccuracy..........and losing connection in tunnels / around high buildings.[/quote]
Won't that still be an issue though? You'll still lose the GPS lock, but has the system got gyros etc so it knows you are still 'on the move' so keeps predicting your track in a similar way to a built in system?

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Portable SatNav
Yes, it supposedly does that now so you continue in a tunnel like the oem system.
