E53 body kits

Post by Gazzi c » Sat Aug 04, 2012 12:29 am

Hi all now I've had the x5 a few months I think it's time to personalise it a bit and would like to stick a body kit on it I really like this one but prefer the facelift version

But cannot justify the price so do you guys and girls know of any x5 body kit suppliers that do frp replicas?

E53 body kits

Post by garethdeb » Wed Aug 08, 2012 6:20 pm

Sorry Gaz but I believe the E53 is a damn fine looking beast as BMW intended it to look, Sticking bits of expensive plastic on it will just ruin it. You only have to look at the Barryboys website to understand what I mean.
Just my opinion of course.
Regards
Gareth

Agree - keep it as OEM as possible.

This thing is fine the way it is, road presence isn't exactly understated!

Personally I like the factory aero kit but it must be accompanied by factory 20's

The aero kit is nice and it's worth keeping an eye out on BMW direct on eBay as they sometimes sell the bits off cheaper.

One thing my friend said at my local body shop was that better to get BMW bits rather than a replica as you spend what you saved on the purchae price in paying someone to make the kit fit and so warned me off getting a fibreglass kit.

However like all things it really depends on your budget and skills and what it is your after.

Perfect. Not worth the effort - don't bother.

I like certain kits but it has to be decent, genuine (ACS, Hartge, etc) and flow with the original lines. But there is plenty you can do to personalise your ride without a lot of add ons.

Agree with above though to avoid replica stuff as the fit will always be far poorer and potentially ruin the look.

Thanks for your opinions guys I guess I'll be keeping the bumpers stock then because the asc kit pictured above is out of my budget will still be on the lookout for some second hand ac schnitzer type iv 22" staggered alloys though

It certainly is an OE kit offered by BMW. There are possibilities to source it from the likes of MStyle, etc too.
