Rear hatch soft close not closing?

Hi,
I am having real fun with my E53 finding out all these options that I have but unfortunately do not work. The manual tells me about the Rear hatch or door soft close, in principle I only have to push it down lightly and it will close itself.

My wife and I are able bodied so we do not really need the option but hey... if it is there it should work right?
And if I push down lightly (or not) well not much happens... I checked the fuse which is OK. It is not in the manual referred to as an option so I suppose it is there on all E53's? Mine is the 3/0D sport Sept 2006.

Is is in actual fact an option and I do not have it (in which case not sure why Fuse 82 is in place since this is all it does) or is it something I can find out when I get the scanner (hopefully soon)

By the way I really enjoy my X.  It is just typical BMW with the electric funnies... I had a 530D and it took me 6 months to get all options to work. So I will get there eventually.

Hi, this is a bit of a misnomer really. All it does is pull the hatch in the last cm softly so you don't have to slam it shut. When I first starting looking for an X5 I thought it was like a power closer for the full range of movement too. So as long as yours pulls in that last little bit, you will here the whir and click, then it is working as advertised.

Ahh right. Thanks for that. At least it was an easy fix. I suppose it does the trick then as it does close without me having to slam it shut.
