Digital TV.
Hi all, I am currently fitting a reverse camera (courtesy of Sanj for wiring instructions) but wonder, how do I get sound from the new TV unit to the speakers? The video is using the AV channel with relays to stop both camera and TV being on together. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tom.

Why would you want sound? Unless some body's shouting STOP.

Re: Digital TV.
Sorry for the misinterpretation, I am also fitting a digital tv tuner (not BMW) with video and sound outputs but don't know where to connect the sound outputs to. Hope this helps to clarify the issue. Tom.
Re: Digital TV.
Hi Tom,
I hope you've figured this out now?
I just bought one of these off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... AQ:GB:1123
If your home brew cable is similar... the sound/video out are for (example) rear headrest TVs. I don't plan to use the sound output at all, don't want anything coming from the headrest TV's speakers.
I'm also adding a digital tv (not bmw) and reverse camera using the ebay cable.... this weekend hopefully. I'll post some pics.

I too would like to convert the analogue tv to digital. I've seen units that use the AV input and have a separate remote but I'm not keen on that idea, rather have it fully integrated with the oem head unit so I can control the tv from the screen.
What's the way ahead folks? Ultimately I'd like the Hooligan H/U but can't stretch to the 500 quid at the mo.
Cheers all

Gareth

Hopefully Sanj or RAj or one of the other audiophiles will be along soon to give you a better answer, but AFAIK you can get a cable from toysinyourcar which will allow AV input to which you can add a 12v freeview box intended for car installs, under £50 on ebay. But you will only be able to use this on one of the AV channels not the older analogue channel.
The best option is to pull the old analogue tv tuner and replace with a hybrid or a digital one, its just plug and play, but its very expensive and the tuners really hard to get at a decent price as everyone wants one. Costs over £600 +
Just be warned, reception of the digital tv is pretty poor unless the signal is perfect, its not as good and easy as the analogue was in the car, and you may need to replace your aerial if relacing an analogue unit or installing a freeview box.

Re: Digital TV.
The non OEM setup in mine uses an RF modulator to transmit through the radio.
Advantage there is the rear passengers could use a small headphone radio, or their phone and headphones to listen to the sound from the TV/DVD whilst i can listen to the radio..
Mind having just fitted 1300w rms into the boot then i think that may be a bit ambitious.........

If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
