Possibly your best answer will come from making contact with BMW Warranty from here, or a Dealer?

The figures seem to change with vehicle type and options fitted, and day of the week!!

Using the reg plate of my now written-off 530d, the costs  for the full Mondial warranty inc Emergrncy Assist and the standard £100 excess are:

Below 60k - £749 OR £69 monthly
Above 60k - £1131 or £104 monthly

The full warranty is available so long as your car has less than 100k on the clock at renewal and a full service history.

The excess can be 0 or 250 which obviously changes the premium and the Emergency assist if refused will knock down the charge by £82 per annum.

Hope that helps

Ouch!  But then again you're unlikely to get any quibbling over what needs doing.

Thanks guys.

David that's awesome, believe it or not the cost to the dealer to supply 12mths AUC cover is £300 (the dealer gave me their receipt for it mixed up with my paperwork).

I'm approaching 60K and the end of my AUC warranty and have developed an oil leak coming from near the EGR, I didn't really want it going into a dealer until I've renewed monthly at the less than 60K rate. Might have to put up with the leak for a couple of months.

Yes 1 year AUC cost is £300 and 2 years is £800 - longer terms are not available.

I got 2 years AUC as part of my deal - I took it as saving me the cost of the Mondial jobbie plus any excesses thus reducing the premium I paid the dealer for the car!

3.0d extended warranty costs ?

Post by CondorX5 » Fri Jul 13, 2012 10:56 pm

The extended BMW / Mondial warranty for my 4.8is is £101 per month.........my X has just gone over the 50k mile mark and I was wondering if it was actually worth it, but I guess it just takes an air bag problem or a popped oil cooler like I had in Dec 2010 or a failed panoramic sunroof and thats a lot more than a years charge, not to mention a ZF box failure........plus the Emergency service is a million times better than RAC/ AA in my experience.

However, recent experience has shown that the extended warranty doesn't cover everything without a fuss........my X has been to the dealers three times now for panoramic sunroof issues, the first two were covered by warranty no problem, but this time they tried every which way to weasel out of it........claimed that the leak into the car was caused by a failed seal and not covered by warranty.  I argued the toss with them and they approached BMW for a goodwill repair which fortunately was agreed for FULL labour and parts by BMW once they had a copy of the full main dealer service history.  At the time, I had the dreaded self levelling suspension message randomly pop up and asked dealer to check and lo and behold, not covered by warranty again- " its a wear and tear issue madam, the joints needed freeing off, not covered by the warranty" .  Cost was £90 so I didn't get too excited about it, but I am getting a bit miffed about the warranty seemingly covering less and less.  The 4.8 is a joy to drive but lots of things have gone wrong, mostly just annoying things, but nonetheless expensive - the electric mirrors are now doing the fold in and straight back out thing and the car has to visit the dealers tomorrow so they can "check which parts need to be ordered" - have been assured by service that this is definitely a warranty issue and then back again when the parts arrive and they have a courtesy car for me.

So far the warranty has covered a new oil cooler, new bluetooth unit, two lots of parking sensors, two sunroof repairs including the motor, gearbox leak, bonnet alarm switch, and latest issue being the electric mirrors.  I suppose that would have been a fair amount of money if I needed to pay out for all those repairs.  And the Emergency Service were brilliant on the two occasions I have needed them.    All in all the dealer experience has not been a bad one, just disappointed that the warranty seems to be slipping up a bit here and there. I have paid for two repairs in my ownership - the air suspension for around £90 and an engine mount - again cited as being. "wear and tear" - for around £50, so I guess not too bad for two years of ownership so far.

As far as when the car goes over 60k miles, I believe that as long as you keep up the monthly payments on the warranty the payments do not go up, i guess it makes sense to keep up with it for now at least, as Warranty DIrect are an even bigger bunch of sharks than the Mondial extended warranty and even less is covered with a lot more argument required to get a repair covered.
