My E53 is supposed to have it, but we couldn't get it to work properly at the last meet using the resler, the woman just wittered away in German, even though everything is set to English. Any ideas besides learning German?

Some questions I have

Post by macky1986 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 9:21 pm

After just under a week of ownership I can say that I love my new X5. I got a wee surprise in the post of an iPhone snap in adapter and an email from the salesman saying he took it out a trade in and sent me it.

I have a question though, I have the media pack but don't have a USB port, the snap in adaptor only charges and lets me connect through the shark fin aerial but I want to be able to play my iPod or iPhone music without having to use the aux port which isn't the greatest. Can I do this through Bluetooth or am I stuck having to use the aux cable?

Should run via Bluetooth as I have the same in my X6..... :)

You need to select external devices in the CD/Multimedia functions, and also enable Bluetooth audio in the phone options.  You can also get the display screen to show track information by using Entertainment Details in the split screen.  You won't get album artwork though, that needs the full 'smartphone integration' option installed in the car.

I'm wondering if it's because I have a 3GS. I can't find any of the options you have mentioned. I do have a new IPod touch with Bluetooth though.

Select external devices in the CD/Multimedia functions on the car whilst the phone is paired through bluetooth. The 3GS should still connect to the stereo as mentioned.

Cool. I had a 61 plate 730Ld for a few weeks before Christmas and I connected my 4S through the bluetooth in the same way on the iDrive and was really impressed. I've owned an E60 530d and M5 but the older gen iDrive and multimedia are prehistoric by comparison to the new ones.

Ah, if the older gen iDrive then don't know if you can still connect in the same way to play music, etc??? Little unsure.

I don't go in to the dealers as I just don't see the point in depressing myself with not being able to buy anything newer...lol

After messing around with it I'm convinced I can't play music through Bluetooth on this. Looks like it will be aux cable or radio.
